The Old Surpasses The New?

It came to my mind the other day when I saw one of my Japanese boss using an old analog oscilloscope(its what we use to measure signals) to investigate a problem we are facing at work, instead of a RM10k digital oscilloscope..... I noticed that the old oscilloscope had capabilities to zoom in to the signal in ways that I couldn't imagine! And I realised, that perhaps there is a reason why people out there today prefer analog to digital, why people prefer using the single effect pedals that multi effects (okay, less relevant but...actually there is lah), why tapes are old record players have better sound qualities than CDs.

There's the question of sampling rate yes? Sampling is one of the processes involved in converting analog to digital. To briefly explain, lets say you have a sinusoidal wave, with a frequency of 1 Hz.(1 Hz is equivalent of one full cycle in one second). You sample it at the rate of 2Hz sampling rate, that means at half a cycle, it samples the value of the waveform..or in other words, determine the value of the waveform at the time. What about during the rest of the cycle, or in between the sampling rates, what happens to the data? Exactly my point, we lose some of the real deal people. We sacrifice some points of the matter in order to achieve our goal easily.Or in the digital world, to create a fast easier solution, by eliminating the "supposed-to-be" redundancy. But my question now is, can we really eliminate them?

I see the relativity of this in our lives. We the younger generations now rely a little too much on new technology in order to achieve our goals, sometimes (maybe a little too much) that we lose sight on maybe what's important to us. We discard what we thought is irrelevant, but maybe..just maybe it could be a use to us perhaps even save us?

You could try and see the scenario of moral values perhaps? How people nowadays take the "shortcut" through the moral value aspect for a bigger gain, seeing only the bigger picture but what about the small little detail that could affect us all?Or maybe your children?Or even our country? The small little detail that could maybe increase our quality of life, our conscience, our mental health maybe. Who knows.

I'm just rambling, I just wanted to write this out because it came to my head when I was looking at my Jap boss troubleshooting at work and realised how the old, could surpass the new.

Malaysia Boleh, Boleh,Boleh?

I was at Sunway Pyramid the other day and I ran into a small fair about Malaysia Book Of Records. I was bored, so I looked around and saw all the 'achievements' we proud Malaysians have done so far...all I could say, I ended up speechless and decided to take some photos:

I think the last picture just made me slap my head...teddy bears????

And for the Largest Dinner Gathering...:-/

Maybe I'm not a good sport, maybe I just have higher expectations...but come on...

"I Am Above The Law" sez the Ignorant Pricks

Big, luxurious, overly priced cars with the "lambang-ed" lincense plates, you know the ones with that sez "Hakim Makamah" or "Pegawai kerajaan" or " Kamek nang kaya benar, kereta kitak mek boleh beli sekelip mata tauk sik",tinted so dark you can't see crap who the driver is or what the heck he/she is doing inside...How the heck do these guys get away from JPJ? I always wonder that if they ever get caught in a road block, do the officers just let them through coz they have these lambang on their license plate, or do they get pulled over and also get told to take the tints off?

If they get the latter, then its fine. These guys are just a bunch of pricks who know nothing about the law in Malaysia and just wanted to be known as someone who has so-called "power". But, what if they don't get pulled over? That the officers just let them through or to be more specific, officers just 'close one eye' on them?

I have heard of stories that if you have these lambang i.e. judge, kementerian people (somebody dgn pangkat la)....you don't get pulled over. They just let them through. My question is: who the heck are they to be above the law? Who are they so that they can do whatever they want on the streets or anywhere in this country? If its like Raja or Sultan themselves, maybe yes for protection's sake maybe (however we could still debate about this). But what about these ridiculous people like lawyers, pangkat2 yang tak berkenaan dgn really high level people....who the heck are you man??Dah la pandu macam hampeh.

Argghh...just thinking about them just makes me hate them more. Dah le bulan puasa.Ok,signing out. Keja keja keja!!

Dah beli kuih raya dah?

A Typical Moment In The Office

Here's a typical scene in the office between me and my superior (manager lah)...

F: I see that you haven't completed your evaluation...

Me: Yea, we're currently investigating quite a number of problems right now.

F: I need you to give me a date when you can solve these problems...

Me: Err...2 days if no other problem arises...

F: Ok, please keep in mind that problem A is a top priority and must be solved...

Then the conversation continued in my head:

Me: F, shove it up your arse....

F: Ok.

P/S:This is just a perversion of the truth of what happened yesterday.

Poetry - Can We Balance It All?

Can we balance it all?
To a point of equal weight of each side of the scale?
Is it true that there is enough objects to put on
That we can somehow not make a mess so it would balance on?

It may seem ridiculous (that I want it that way)
Of my attempts of balancing
Tell me,when we do know it will balance equally
As I put the weights equally on both sides

I do believe its in our hands
We are the ones who are to balance this
No one else would
Or could
As we ourselves are the creator of the weights
That balances the scale of our lives

My choice
My judgement
My being
My entity
Is what I can be
The scale's equilibrium state

p/s:I can't find a picture of a balanced scale to beautify this poem. But I gueess you'd know I would put a balanced one if I could.:D

Evolution in music?

I was just half way watching Slipknot's new single Psychosocial on Youtube, and I just had the urge to rant about music evolution. To be more specific, a band's musical orientation evolution over time.

First of all,

WHAT HAPPENED TO PURE ANGER COREY?

If you compare to the old days of the year 2000, Slipknot had the anger, the madness in their songs. Such angst, such hatred, such energy especially in the vocals. Now, I suppose being rich and successful, you just had to evolve into something more..marketable? I don't know if they realise this but being the old them is when the band really had the edge in my opinion. Why the lame rapping(keyword:lame)? Ok, maybe some cool riffs here and there but,but.....nevermind. I just totally disagree where Slipknot is heading. This is getting mainstream, nu-metal rapping with just some(not all) mediocre riffs, and of course not to forget the half hearted screaming. No, to me this is not screaming. This is not Corey Taylor's screaming.

I just wanna express I miss the old Slipknot. I miss the crazy 9 men on stage doing all sort of stuffs, bringing out the great recipe of a live performance. I know the will deliver a hell of a show where ever and whenever they perform, just saddened by the quality in the new music they produced.

Here's the video btw...* sigh *

"Keeping myself alive, through your empathy!!!" -Slipknot
